Puppies Born September 20 2024
Eight Weeks Old
We now have two speeds - on and off. On involves running and now we can really run. We don't even stumble. If we aren't contained then we are going 10 different directions.
We are continuing to meet lots of new people and we've gone lots of new places. We've been near horses and near dogs that are super loud. We've seen and heard ATVs. We've been around loud equipment. We've even been in the lake. We have no fears.
We aren't quite big enough to destroy toys but we try. We are unanimously in agreement that boxes are more fun than toys. Those we can and do destroy. We climb on everything and explore all nooks of our world.
Six Weeks Old
Confidence is coming in strong. We are playing with the big dogs in the yard. Learning to be just like them. We are learning how to solve puzzles. We are exploring agility equipment and gravity.
We started exploring kennels then sleeping in kennels in just 2 weeks. This helps us learn to poop only outside. Our bladder-brain connection isn't 100% yet so sometimes we have little pee accidents inside.
We eat exclusively dog food now, still softened.
Four Weeks Old
We are becoming big dogs. We are continuing to meet lots of new people and we've now met the other dogs at home. We are learning to play with toys, stalk, bounce, hop, and wrestle each other. Our teeth are coming in fast; we are eating soften kibble and learning that we chew on toys not toes. We are also going outside every day! There are a lot of smells outside so it's a bit overwhelming at the moment.
Two Weeks Old
Growing like weeds. We are already triple our birth weights! Eyes open and ears starting to open. We are so strong and excited to be in this world we are already walking. Lots of talking and we have opinions we want to share. We have begun meeting new people. All cuddles for Ginger, each other and those who hold them.
First Days
Puppies don't open their eyes and ears until they are 2-3 weeks old. They are little heat seeking machines. They find Ginger and each other through pure innate need for food and comfort. They are only handled a few minutes a day to make sure they are gaining weight as expected and for early neurological stimulation.
